I Offer my Life - Download

Tuesday, October 21, 2008

This is one of my favorite songs ever. First time I heard this I really realized that I have to offer to God all that what I am doing now, even though it is only a little thing but still if I am going to offer it to God with all my heart and then I am sure that he will be happy of it. This is the songs that really help me to analyze that I have to offer to God my life.

I Offer my Life - Download

All that I am, all that I have

I lay them down before you, oh Lord

All my regrets, all my acclaims

The joy and the pain, I'm making them yours

(Chorus)

Lord, I offer my life to you

Everything I've been through

Use it for your glory

Lord I offer my days to you

Lifting my praise to you

As a pleasing sacrifice

Lord I offer you my life

Things in the past, things yet unseen

Wishes and dreams that are yet to come true

All of my heart, all of my praise

My heart and my hands are lifted to you

(Chorus)

What can we give

that you have not given?

And what do we have

that is not already yours?

All we possess

Are these lives we're living

That's what we give to you, Lord

(Chorus)2x

Coda: Lord I offer you my life.

Ten years - Asia prepared for crisis

Thursday, October 16, 2008

Painful reforms launched amid the maelstrom of the 1997-1998 Asian economic downturn have put the region in good shape to weather the much deeper crisis now gripping global markets, economists said.

Indonesia, South Korea and Thailand were at the centre of the storm a decade ago when high debts, low reserves, poor regulation and currency speculation triggered economic "contagion" that spread from Jakarta to Moscow.

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) threw lifelines worth 58 billion dollars to Seoul, 43 billion to Jakarta and 17 billion to Bangkok in return for far-reaching reform as the three "Asian tigers" teetered near bankruptcy.

How times have changed.

Now it's the United States and Europe which are leading the plunge with some of the world's most respected investment banks collapsing under the weight of trillions of dollars in bad debts.

"Astonishing events have unfolded over the past few weeks. I mean, who would have thought that the American investment banking system would have basically disappeared? It's amazing," said IMF representative to Indonesia, Milan Zavadjil.

Economists said the turmoil of 2008 was very different to the banking and currency crisis that spread through Asia a decade earlier, but there were also similarities such as mountains of bad debt and weak government oversight.

Monday, October 06, 2008

Final exam is now coming so that's why I have to be ready for it. Even though I only have few hours and day it is because our exam is this coming October 8-10, 2008. The things that we are doing now is the result in our future wether we can make to win this games in the end or we will become one of the losser that had also lossen their games. Here I Am lyrics by: Air Supply

Monday, September 29, 2008

Here I am playing with those memories again
And just when I thought time had set me free
Those thoughts of you keep taunting me

Holding you, a feeling I never outgrew
Though each and every part of me has tried
Only you can fill that space inside

So theres no sense pretending
My heart its not mending

(chorus)
Just when I thought I was over you
And just when I thought I could stand on my own
Oh baby those memories come crashing through
And I just cant go on without

On my own Ive tried to make the best of it alone
Ive done everything I can to ease the pain
But only you can stop the rain

I just cant live without you
I miss everything about you

(chorus)
Just when I thought I was over you
And just when I thought I could stand on my own
Oh baby those memories come crashing through
And I just cant go on without
Go on without
Its just no good without you

Very Special Love by: Lani Misalucha

I never believed in love
I was deceived by love
I never had much luck
With lovers before

And I couldn't compete
I seemed
Just part of the street
To be walked on
By everyone but then

Then I found
A very special love in you
It's a feeling
That's so totally new
Over and over
It's burning inside
And I found
A very special love in you
And it almost breaks me
In two
Squeezing me tighter
But I'm never gonna let go

You're not like the rest
I know
You're one of the best
You give more
Than you should
And take nothing
In return

Stay always with me
And I always will be
The one person
That you can count on
Always to love you

And I found
A very special love in you
It's a feeling
That's so totally new
Over and over
It's burning inside
And I found
A very special love in you
And it almost breaks me
In two
Squeezing me tighter
But I'm never gonna let go

And I found
A very special love in you
It's a feeling
That's so totally new
Over and over
It's burning inside
I found
A very special love in you
And it almost breaks me
In two
Squeezing me tighter
But I'm never gonna let go

Water rates to go up

Saturday, September 20, 2008

Water rates in Metro Manila and nearby provinces will be increasing starting October 1 as the peso depreciated against the dollar and other foreign currencies.

Water concessionaire for the west zone, Metro Pacific-controlled Maynilad Water Services Inc., said in a statement that customers could expect an average of P0.30 per cubic meter. This translates to an increase of P5.52 in the water bill of a family of five consuming an average of 30 cubic meters of water per month.

On the other hand, water concessionaire for the east zone, Ayala-owned Manila Water Co. Inc, said its customers could expect an average increase of 1.6 percent or P0.31 per cubic meter.

This will be the second-straight quarter that the utilities will increase their rates because of the depreciation of the peso.
In the second quarter, Manila Water raised its rate by P0.21 per cubic meter and Maynilad, by P0.22 per cubic meter, also because of the softening of the peso.

Bishop leads prayer vigil for Kanlaon geothermal exploration

Saturday, September 06, 2008

Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra led lay people, seminarians and priests in a prayer vigil Friday outside a courtroom before a hearing was held on a petition to stop geothermal exploration activities in the buffer zone of Mt. Kanlaon Natural Park.

The court has not yet issued a temporary restraining order (TRO) on the petition filed by the Save Mt. Kanlaon Coalition (SMKC) to stop the geothermal exploration activities of Energy Development Corporation (EDC).

During the hearing in a Bacolod City Regional Trial Court Friday morning, lawyer Andy Hagad, the SMKC counsel said that the petition for TRO would be an exercise in futility because EDC has already cut almost 2,000 trees in the buffer zone.

The group however would still like to proceed with the hearing, said Hagad, even if the case would reach the Supreme Court.

They prayed the rosary in the hope that their petition will be granted to stop the exploration in Kanlaon which they believe destroys biodiversity in the area.

A drizzle also did not stop the group from showing their opposition to the firm's geothermal expansion project.

Protestors wearing yellow ribbons stayed under the rain while more or less 600 pro-EDC people carried placards in support of the firm's geothermal project.

Yokohama Rubber to produce tires

Monday, July 28, 2008

Yokohama Rubber Co, Japan's third-biggest tire maker, said it plans to produce tires for passenger cars in Russia and Brazil from 2010 to meet rising demand in these fast-growing economies.

It will be the first Japanese tire maker to start local production in Russia. Bigger rival Bridgestone Corp already has tire factories in Brazil.

Yokohama Rubber currently ships tires to these countries from factories in Japan and the Philippines. But it wants to build local plants due to the strong business prospects in Russia and South America and also to avoid high tariffs on imported tires, a company spokesman said.

"It makes more sense to produce tires there and sell them directly in the region," the spokesman said.

"We'll keep shipping value-added products from Japan... (The plants) will start small and expand if and when sales increase," the spokesman added.

Because every day that I am facing with the computer and doing those ID I think my eyes will blow into pieces and I think my head going also to break into pieces. But still I can’t make anything about this because I rather choose to become a working student than to be a regular student. So still I have to fight against. All the temptation that whispering me every day and night to stop in my work but I can’t so therefore I have to fight for it.

But it really teach me a very important lesson that everyone should know and it is on how to be faithful to God and to trust God. And also on how to pray to God. So because the end of the world is near, I really read this one in some of the article in the news and even my Gradnmother knows about this kind of terrible news. We should have to be faihtful to God and be sincere in doing all his commandments.

Apple's new iPhone made a glitzy debut on Friday as frenetic buyers in New Zealand and Japan, some of whom had camped in line for days, stormed outlets to get their hands on the gadget.

The new iPhone -- a music and video player, cell phone and Web terminal in one -- is an updated version of the original that sold to 270,000 people within days of its June 2007 launch.

After New Zealand and Japan, the sales of the 3G iPhone will roll out to more than 20 countries across the globe.

Several hundred people waited outside Vodafone shops in New Zealand's three main cities, supplied with music, food and entertainment, before a spirited countdown saw the first person in the world politely ushered through the door to the counter.

"I'm going to put this on charge, have a play around with it and have a nice long sleep," said 22-year-old Auckland student Jonny Gladwell, who queued in freezing temperatures for around 60 hours to be the first to buy it, at a minute past midnight.

Oil continued its record-breaking run on Thursday, hitting 145 dollars a barrel for the first time after a US report added to supply worries and the US dollar weakened, analysts said.

Brent North Sea crude for August delivery traded at 145.00 in early Asian trade, 74 cents higher than its record close of 144.26 in London the previous day, when the contract topped 144 dollars for the first time.

New York's benchmark futures contract, light sweet crude for August delivery, was 81 cents higher at 144.38 from its record close of 143.57 on the New York Mercantile Exchange on Wednesday.

The latest surge followed a warning from Iranian Oil Minister Gholam Hossein Nozari that his country would react fiercely to any attack against it.

"Iran, if there were any kind of activity of any sort, is not going to be quiet and would react fiercely," he told reporters on the sidelines of the World Petroleum Congress in Madrid.

Princess of the Stars

Wednesday, July 02, 2008 · Posted in

A Philippine ferry that sank in a typhoon will be refloated, officials said Wednesday, ditching a bid to use divers to retrieve hundreds of bodies and toxic pesticides some 11 days after the disaster.

Amid anger at the slow-moving recovery operation, the government and ferry owners abandoned plans to bore a hole in the 24,000-tonne vessel to pull out the bodies and agricultural chemicals that threaten the marine environment.

A salvage outfit hired to execute the plan, as well as Filipino and US military divers, have left the site off the central island of Sibuyan, Transportation and Communication Undersecretary Elena Bautista said.

"Subsea (the salvage firm) is pulling out because we will refloat the vessel," Bautista told AFP here.

While tests showed waters have not been contaminated with the endosulfan cargo, there was concern containers could corrode allowing the chemical to leach and contaminate the area.

Stocks retreated on Friday as investors, taking their cue from Wall Street's tumble overnight, unloaded their holdings following another spike in world oil prices.

Analysts said investors have been worried about high fuel prices crimping consumer spending, thus, putting dent on companies' earnings.

"The market started weak because of Wall Street's plunge after oil prices hit a record high again yesterday," said Harry Liu, president of Summit Securities.

"The spike triggered concerns about rising inflation. The problem is not just local, but global," he added.

Oil surged above $140 a barrel before settling at $139.64 at New York trading on Thursday.

This, coupled with a downgrade in ratings on US investment banks, sent the Dow Jones industrial average down 360 points to a 21-month low of 11,453.42.

At home, the composite index fell 55.33 points or 2.2 percent to 2,466.28.

US Supreme Court rejects death

Thursday, June 26, 2008 · Posted in

The US Supreme Court narrowly ruled Wednesday that a man convicted of raping a child cannot be sentenced to death, saying capital punishment must be reserved for murder cases.

By a one-vote majority of 5-4 the justices said the US constitution which prohibits "cruel and unusual punishment" bars the imposition of the death penalty "for the rape of a child where the crime did not result, and was not intended to result, in the victim's death."

In its written ruling, the court specified that even if a rape was particularly atrocious, it was impossible to set down a list of circumstances under which the death penalty would be justified, without opening the door to arbitrary decisions.

Over the past years many parts of the United States have tightened legislation against child rapists introducing maximum penalties of 25 years in prison.

Five states have also introduced the death penalty for the rape of a child, usually for repeat offenders.

The case before the Supreme Court involved an appeal by lawyers for Patrick Kennedy, 43, who was sentenced to death in Louisiana in 2003 for raping his girlfriend's daughter five years earlier, when she was eight years old.

But in its ruling, written by Justice Anthony Kennedy, the Supreme Court cited a "national consensus" across most US states that do not have laws allowing capital punishment for the crime of child rape.

Diana Rose Laborte was from Villa Estelita in Bulalacao, Talisay City in Negros Occidental. Orlando Cuevas, 61, meanwhile, is a retired Philippine Air Force officer and was from Dela Serna in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu province.

Authorities believe the two were passengers of the ill-fated passenger vessel that encountered huge waves on its way to Cebu at the height of typhoon Frank's onslaught on Saturday.

Officials said that the victims' families have been notified of their relatives' fate.

The two other bodies, meanwhile, have yet to be retrieved.

In Libmanan town, authorities said they recovered two more bodies along the coastline of Barangay Tinalmok.

Albay provincial officials on Friday called on residents living near Mayon Volcano or in mountain slopes as well as in coastal areas to evacuate due to Typhoon Frank (international codename Fengshen).

The province has already been placed under Storm Signal Number 3 by the country’s weather bureau, Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services (PAGASA). The powerful typhoon is expected to hit the province early Saturday morning.

The pre-emptive evacuation, ordered by Albay Gov. Joey Salceda, have already resulted in 23,086 families or 117,963 persons going to evacuation centers across the province.

"We are doing pre-emptive evacuation of 176,802 persons due to risk of lahar, landslide and floods" earlier said Albay Gov. Joey Salceda.

Provincial officials said there is still sufficient food supply for the evacuees.

It is the kind of calamity that known as the Tsunami. It is really a big kinds of waves that can almost occupied a country or a one place and could made to kill or lose ones life. Just like as we thought that tsunami is cause by an earthquake. Yes it is cause by an earthquake, when there is a huge earthquake on your country or in your near by town or country expect that there is a what we called tsunami. But not all the times that there is a earthquake there is also a tsunami, because it depends upon the magnitude of the earthquake. But for me it is not only a ordinary earthquake for me it means that it is a kind of calamity that came from God and he wanted to kill those people that are not doing good things.

Car bomb kills 51 in Baghdad

BAGHDAD - A car bomb at a bus stop in north Baghdad killed at least 51 people and wounded 75 others on Tuesday, security officials told AFP.

The attack, the biggest in past eight weeks, took place in the mainly Shiite Al-Hurriyah neighborhood at around 5:30 pm (1430 GMT), they said.

Security officials said the victims were taken to several hospitals in the Iraqi capital.

The car bombing came hours after a bomb hidden on a motorcycle exploded at a checkpoint in north Baghdad, killing four fighters of a group battling Al-Qaeda militants.

That attack took place at around 10:00 am (0700 GMT) at a checkpoint run by the fighters in the Al-Sulek neighborhood, security officials said. Four other members of the group were wounded, along with two civilians.

Rising Flood Waters

Saturday, June 14, 2008 · Posted in

CEDAR RAPIDS - Rising flood waters swamped the river city of Cedar Rapids, Iowa Friday, forcing residents to flee their homes, and officials to abandon city hall amid a crisis that has left 15 people dead.

Nothing could stop the water. Not sandbags. Not levees. Not prayers.

"We've been in a major flood fight for about 10 days now," said Bret Voorhees, spokesman for the Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management.

"Nine of our major rivers are at record or new record levels," he told AFP.

"We're designating it a 500-year flood."

The disaster began when a major tornado struck on May 25. Then the rain started. And didn't stop. On Wednesday another tornado struck, killing four Boy Scouts. And more thunderstorms are predicted for Saturday.

A total of 15 lives have been lost and thousands were left homeless, Voorhees said.

Ten counties were under mandatory evacuation orders and 83 counties had been declared federal disaster areas.

"We're trapped with nowhere to go," said Gloria Hines, who lives about a dozen blocks from where the river spilled over in Cedar Rapids.

Oil posts record

Thursday, June 05, 2008

NEW YORK - Oil surged $6 to over $128 a barrel on Thursday in the largest outright gain on record as signals the European Central Bank may raise interest rates this year pushed down the US dollar.

US crude traded up $6.08 to $128.38 a barrel after settling up $5.49 earlier at 127.79, erasing two days of sharp losses that had been triggered by worries high prices were starting to eat into global demand.

London Brent crude futures settled $5.44 higher at $127.54 a barrel, before trading up to $127.83 in post-settlement activity.

Oil prices have doubled in a year on growing Asian demand and as investors rushed into commodities as a hedge against the weak dollar and inflation, helping drive crude to a record $135 a barrel in May.

"The dollar had a reversal and that helped to support crude," said Tom Bentz, BNP Paribas Commodity Futures Inc.

RP sets more rice auctions

Tuesday, June 03, 2008

MANILA - The Philippines' state grain agency said on Monday it would hold auctions for private traders to import up to 200,000 tons of rice on June 11, 20 and 27.

Conrad IbaƱez, assistant administrator of the National Food Authority (NFA), said any volume out of the 200,000 tons that was not taken up in the June 11 auction would be offered in succeeding auction dates.

The Philippine private sector has largely shunned previous opportunities to import the national staple duty-free due to record-high international prices and difficulty competing locally with government-subsidized supplies of the grain.

But with overseas prices dropping from peaks ahead of an expected increase in world supply and the government holding off importing after a buying spree earlier this year, some market observers said demand would pick-up among the private sector.

Earthquake

Monday, June 02, 2008

Former Batanes congressman Florencio “Butch” Abad described the 6.3-magnitude earthquake that jolted the province Sunday as “frightening" but not so surprising considering the history of the province.

“It also lasted a bit long. It was frightening but it's nothing new for this province because a month doesn’t pass by without earthquakes shaking the island. In fact, last month we had five in a day but this one was particularly strong. I understand there was no serious damage as a result of the earthquake,” Abad told ANC.

Abad believes that casualties and property damage would be unlikely from such a quake, noting that houses in the province are built to withstand not only typhoons but earthquakes as well.

He said so far the residents have not felt any aftershocks.

quake lake

Saturday, May 31, 2008

MIANYANG - China was poised on Saturday to drain a dangerous "quake lake" in an attempt to avert a disaster that could have flooded the homes of over a million people.

Authorities started to helicopter workers away from a dam that was caused by quake-induced landslides after hundreds of soldiers finished an enormous drainage channel.

Water trapped in the lake in Tangjiashan was expected to start flowing out as soon as Saturday afternoon, according to Luo Haolong, a commander of the water resources section of the police working on the site.

"This afternoon, the water will flow again," said Luo. "Experts say we are ready to break through and allow the river to flow."

Other officials said that the breach may not happen for a few days, but they appeared confident their efforts would eliminate the risk of a disastrous flood.
